Milton State Park is home to stunning views throughout the 82-acre island amongst the West Branch Susquehanna River. In the northern half of the park you'll find recreational day use facilities like playgrounds and event spots, while the southern half focuses on conservation, nature study, and hiking.

Milton State Park Recreational Activities

No matter what time of year it is, you can find adventure, relaxation, and fun at Milton State Park.

During the summer, check out activities like kayaking, canoeing, fishing, and swimming. The fall is the perfect time to go check out the changing leaves by hiking around the 3.5 miles of trails and exploring the riverine habitats of the river island.

When winter hits, grab your snow mobile, skis, snowboard, or even a snow tube and hit the slopes. Finally, welcome in spring with a game of disc golf or a scenic picnic.

Stay Overnight In the Campsites

A great way to fully experience everything the park has to offer is by staying overnight in some of the local campsites.

Here, you'll find accommodations for everyone's unique level of comfort. For those who prefer to stay close to nature, you can go backpacking with tents. If sleeping indoors is more your thing, there's a selection of cabins, houses, cottages, yurts, and RVs available for rent.

They even have a number of state park inns, like the Nature Inn at Bald Eagle State Park, and The Inn at Cook Forest, which is near the Clarion River.

Milton State Park Conservation

Milton State Park is a haven for migrating birds and waterfowl, and the rangers, volunteers, and employees are dedicated to keeping them all healthy, and safe, using sustainable recourses and practices.

They're also dedicated to addressing and responding to climate change, by reducing their carbon footprint, and enforcing rules that guests take nothing-and leave nothing-in the park. Focusing on solar energy, pursuing LEED certification, and deploying energy efficient systems and materials are also important to them.
